Everybody is equally called – whether the person is an accountant, electrician, teacher, engineer, software professional, journalist, sportsman, banker, cine-artist, in business, preacher, missionary, pastor or a home-maker. The work a person is in – is the place where God has called the person to be.
God calls what he does in creation as ‘work’ and calls that work ‘good’. If we are created in God’s image – we need to work and working hard is good. If we consider work as a gift of God then our daily work should bring satisfaction and should also help us to enjoy. (Eccl 3:13, 22) How many of us enjoy the work we are involved in? It is Biblical for us to enjoy the rewards of our hard work. It is good for us to enjoy our rest, holidays, retirement and work towards it.
We need to make the workplace our prayer altars where we serve as priests for our co-workers interceding for their needs. It is the workplace that needs to become our pulpits to share the reason for our faith. There are more ministry opportunities in the workplace than inside church buildings.
